Calling all WALT KELLY collectors! Here is the third issue of Walt Kelly's EASTER WITH MOTHER GOOSE, 52-page collection of Kelly's take on well known nursery rhymes all tied in to an Easter setting! It was published by Dell as part of their 'FOUR COLOR' series from 1946-1949 as a follow-up to the ending of FAIRY TALE PARADE.With his cover and a full 52 pages of charming and lively retellings of familiar nursery rhymes and folk tales, the legendary WALT KELLY's art makes this a sought-after early pre-POGO collectible!
KELLY illustrates his own versions of the Three Little Pigs, Wee Willie Winkie, 'Little Miss Muffet' and others, all with a connection to Easter in some way. His art covers the range between beautifully semi-realistic . . and silly/funny!
This is a nice copy with a strong binding and colorful printing. The only impediments to a higher grade are the state of the front cover, with its wrinkles, dings, and corner missing. . . and one half of an interior page missing. Amazingly little toning, though, and a joy to read!! A 5.5 FN- in our conservative estimate for a comic of this vintage!
Overstreet cites this grade at $30! We feel more comfortable pricing it at $15 . . with our customary L•O•W shipping! It's the only one available here on HipComic, and your only chance to add it to your WALT KELLY collection at this bargain price!
