Don Winslow of the Navy is arguably one of the most important titles Fawcett Publications put out during the Golden Age, as this title inspired many a young man to enlist in the United States Navy. The stories are believed to be written by Lt. Cmdr. Frank Victor Martinek, Don Winslow's creator, with art and cover by Leon Beroth, although no interior credits are given. Admiral Richard E. Byrd and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt were members of the advisory board examining each issue for quality control before publication during World War II.
