DR.STRANGE was created by STEVE DITKO in 1963 , first appearing in STRANGE TALES #110 that summer. He was created by Ditko to bring a different kind of character, and themes of psychedelic mysticism, to Marvel Comics - a genre which went over big with college students and hippies at the time! :o)Here is the First Issue of DR. STRANGE's second volume, which ran for 76 issues and followed his run in STRANGE TALES from 1968 to 1979. This incarnation was guided by the inventive scripting of Steve Englehart and brought to mystic life by Frank Brunner's pencilling!
In "Through an Orb Darkly!", SILVER DAGGER, formerly a Cardinal of the Vatican who became seduced by the Dark Arts, manages to infiltrate the Sanctum Sanctorum, and throws a silver dagger into STRANGE's back, before stealing the Eye of Agamotto amulet and abducting CLEA. STRANGE is pulled into the necromantic Orb of Agamotto where he meets a cryptic hookah-smoking caterpillar!
This copy of DOCTOR STRANGE #1 is in terrific shape for being 51 years old, with a glossy cover, strong binding, minimally toned pages, and no tears, splits, or pieces missing. We're conservatively grading it an 8.0 VF . . . which Overstreet values at $75.
