DICK TRACY is one of America's most-enduring pop-cultural icons. It is noteworthy for its steadfast, chisel-jawed hero and the gruesome rogue's gallery of villains he and his fearless team of Crimestoppers must outwit to put behind bars.

Created by CHESTER GOULD, the strip made its debut on October 4, 1931, in the DETROIT MIRROR. It was distributed by the CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEW YORK NEWS SYNDICATE. Gould wrote and drew the strip until 1977.

Published by DELL COMICS, DICK TRACY MONTHLY ran for 24 issues from January 1948 to December 1949. Here in issue #3 from 1948, you get a typical hard-hitting and 'noirish' crime story of 24 pages, credited to Chester Gould himself (though I have my doubts about that!). It features Detective Tracy, of course, as well as cast regulars 'Junior' and Jimmy White and follows Tracy's take-down . . with Junior's help . . of a gang run by the mayor's son!

You also get a 6 page story - with vastly more sophisticated artwork by Bill Ely - titled 'The Iron Man' , about Detective Jim O'Brien outwitting a murderous mob gang.

This is a really sharp and clean copy DICK TRACY MONTHLY #3, with its strong binding, absence of creases or chipping, with glossy covers and supple pages. It has bright colors and no foxing!
