DETECTIVE COMICS, debuting in 1937, was the final publication of the entrepreneur Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, whose comics company, National Allied Publications, would evolve into DC COMICS, one of the world's two largest comic book publishers, though long after its founder had left it. It was the birthplace, in issue #27, of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego of BATMAN!

Here, 70 years after his momentous debut, you get the Caped Crusader in two stories costarring the mischievous HARLEY QUINN - both issues written by her creator, Paul Dini!

In #831's "Kind Of Like Family", THE VENTRILOQUIST kidnaps HARLEY QUINN from Arkham Asylum and blackmails her to steal money from a local gang. But the plan goes south when BATMAN shows up and fights off the VENTRILOQUIST with the help of HARLEY QUINN, who surprisingly is released from Arkham for heroic teaming with BATMAN!

Then in #837's "Honor Among Thieves", LISA NEWMAN, a Wayne Enterprises employee, goes missing, along with an experimental regenerative drug, BRUCE WAYNE hires THE RIDDLER to find LISA and the drug. The RIDDLER finds a reformed 'HARLEEN QUINZEL' who recognizes the missing woman and tracks her down. LISA admits to stealing the drug, but injects herself and turns into a MONSTER!

These are both terrific-looking 17-year old comics - the bindings are strong, the colors are bright, the covers still have their gloss . . just in top-notch condition.
