ETRIGAN THE DEMON first appeared in his own title in the summer of 1972, created by Jack Kirby at about the time when his expansive and ground-breaking Fourth World titles were cancelled by DC. The DEMON's series lasted just 16 issues - the number of issues DC had Kirby sign a contract to produce!

15 years later, the DEMON returned for this four-issue miniseries in 1987, written and illustrated by Grendel creator Matt Wagner. The entire series is a flashback as told to ETRIGAN's half brother, Merlin the Wizard, by the Archfiend Asteroth.

The mini-series largely concerns Glenda Marks' efforts to help Jason Blood separate himself from the torment of becoming THE DEMON by traveling with him to Cornwall, England to search for the spirit of Merlin! Matt Wagner both wrote the storyline and illustrated these four issues.
