DEADMAN first appeared in STRANGE ADVENTURES #205 (October 1967), and was created by writer Arnold Drake along with artist Carmine Infantino. DEADMAN, in life, was a high-wire acrobat named BOSTON BRAND who was murdered by a mysterious assailant known only as The HOOK. So that he could search for his murderer and obtain justice, the Hindu goddess, RAMA KUSHNA gave his spirit the power to possess any living being.

While he was searching for his killer, he felt obliged to help others. He used his power to alter circumstances that benefited the innocent and corrected any wrongdoing by temporarily taking possession of any living being in order to fight evil forces.

Famously illustrated in the pages of STRANGE ADVENTURES in the late 1960s by the acclaimed Neal Adams, DEADMAN remained semi-retired (appearing in cameos and supporting roles) for 16 years before this 1986 4-issue DEADMAN mini-series brought him front and center, revitalized by the gorgeous artistry of José Luis Garcia-Lopez' stunning artwork.

The mini-series tells the tale of BOSTON BRAND taking over the body of his brother CLEVELAND BRAND to resume his circus career, but mystic outside forces pull him into a world of murder and occult mayhem, resulting in a return to the ethereal land of NANDA PARBAT, and a battle with his nemesis, THE SENSEI.
