Legendary DC Editor JULIUS SCHWARTZ passed away in early 2004, leaving behind a legacy that spanned some 47 years at the helm of characters like Superman, Batman, Atom, Green Lantern and Hawkman. Just 7 months after his death, DC published 8 separate #1 issues of DC COMICS PRESENTS (a title for which Schwartz was the sole editor in its 97-issue run) as a tribute to the man who had guided DC's Silver Age to greatness!

Here are four of those special issues - each with a reimagined cover inspired by the original cover, the concept for which was suggested by Schwartz in the 1960s. Each of these tribute issues starts with a story linking Schwartz himself to the concept shown on the cover . . and a second story that is a tribute to the original story with all-new artwork and script!

Portrayals of Schwartz occur throughout each of the 8 stories here (and even on the covers of ATOM and GREEN LANTERN!), from artists like Dan Jurgens, John Byrne, Walt Simonson, and Scott McDaniel. The 4 covers here are re-imaginings by José Luis Garcia-Lopez and Brian Bolland (with the original cover art, for comparison, on the inside of each front cover!)

Each issue contains one of two ebullient obituaries by Alan Moore or Harlan Ellison.
