DAREDEVIL was created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, and first appeared in DAREDEVIL #1 (1964). The son of boxer 'Battlin' Jack', Matt Murdock grew up in the relative poverty of Hell's Kitchen with much reverence for his father, who constantly pressed him to study instead of playing with his friends. In turn, they taunted him with the nickname DAREDEVIL since he always went back to studying and secretly training in his father's gym instead of doing things with them.

Matt was blinded by toxic chemicals, but learned to hone his physical skills and other senses to the point where he was a fearsome force for good in his neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, even after opening a law firm there. One of is many enemies, aside from Kingpin, Bullseye and occasional lover Electra, was THE OWL, this issue's powerful bad guy!

In "The Owl, Ominous Overlord of Crime!", from Stan Lee and artist Joe Orlando, a wealthy and ruthless financier is exposed as a criminal and begins his reign as The Owl. The Owl hires Matt Murdock to get him out of his legal troubles. The Owl gathers a gang, traps DD and Karen and begins his bid to rule the underworld, until DD escapes and takes the Owl down.

This is a solid reading copy of DAREDEVIL #2, but it admittedly has seen better days, with ball-point pen writing on the first page, and several tiny nicks, and a cover that is barely hanging on! Those are the main detractors . . but they still allow you to enjoy DAREDEVIL in a very early adventure at an affordable price! The pages have normal toning, but no foxing. Overstreet prices this issue in a grade of 3.0 Gd/VG at $63 . . . but we think $38 is much more reasonable, and gives you this issue at the very best price on HipComic!

And our mere $2 shipping fee is another good reason to take this 'Man Without Fear' home!
