CRAZY!, a satire and parody comic book from Marvel, actually had its roots back in 1953, when it was published by ATLAS, Marvel's predecessor. In 1973, in order to compete with magazines like MAD, Cracked, Sick and National Lampoon, Stan Lee decided to load up on the laughs in a comic book format.

That idea only lasted 3 issues before CRAZY! also became a slick magazine.

Here is the first issue of Volume 2 in CRAZY's 94-issue life that lasted until 1984, after this debut issue of 1973. Writers Gary Friedrich and Roy Thomas, and artists Tom Sutton, John Verpoorten, Marie Severin and even Gene Colan provided the chuckles in four stories centered on Irving Forbush attempting to prove himself worthy of a place in the Marvel pantheon of superheroes!

This is a great looking and solid copy of CRAZY #1, with a strong binding, a glossy cover, supple pages and bright color. Overstreet prices this issue in a grade of 8.0 VF at $31 . . . but we think $18 is a bit more reasonable!
