When Dark Horse comics, in 2004, acquired the rights to resume publishing the adventures of CONAN THE BARBARIAN after MARVEL's lengthy run with the title, they went back to the basics, with more direct adaptations of Robert E. Howard's novels and stories than MARVEL had offered near the end of their run.

CONAN the CIMMERIAN was the follow-up series to Dark Horse's 50-issue run of CONAN, from 2004 to 2008. This revamp of the series was intended to focus more directly on the works of CONAN's creator, Robert E. Howard.

And they did just that, in this first issue, with artist and author Tim Truman weaving a complete tale based on Howard's poem 'CIMMERIA'. Artist Tomás Giorello provides detailed and powerful illustrations, enhanced by the coloring artistry of José Villarrubia.

You also get a brief introduction from the editor of what to expect from this new series, as well as another installment of "The Adventures of Two-Gun Bob" about Robert E. Howard.
