CONAN the BARBARIAN had been a jewel in Marvel's line-up for three and a half years when editor and lead writer Roy Thomas took a chance and hired DC's hottest artist at the time, the legendary NEAL ADAMS, to take a swing at the barbarian!

CONAN the BARBARIAN #37 showcases ADAMS' first take on CONAN, after illustrating a few issues of X-MEN, and the results were more than on a par with the work of Barry Windsor-Smith, John Buscema and Gil Kane, who had preceded him as penciller on the title.

In "The Curse of the Golden Skull!" CONAN and his comrades are attacked while escorting a Princess back to Turania. The Cimmerian and his friend JUMA are taken prisoner and enslaved by a sorcerer and forced to mine for gold.

But they come upon a corpse whose bones are solid gold and awaken an ancient monstrosity that seeks revenge! CONAN manages to escape the giant slug monster . . but the sorcerer is not as fortunate!

Great storytelling by Roy Thomas, and awesome artwork by Neal Adams!
