Here are two issues of CONAN THE BARBARIAN from the Fall of 1972, 18 months after artist Barry-Windsor Smith (using just the name 'Barry Smith' at the time) and writer Roy Thomas together birthed the 'Conan Sensation' of the early 70s . . . and in those 18 months, Smith's style and talent blossomed exponentially!

In the connected stories in these two issues - which Barry Windsor-Smith not only drew, but COLORED by himself! - CONAN is a mercenary in the shipboard army of Prince Yezdigerd, and a part of the mission to steal the priceless and powerful statue of Tarim in the walled city of Makkalet. CONAN battles a force of 9 giant undead warriors, nearly loses his best friend to an arrow wound, encounters a beautiful Queen, and fights for his life against the vicious Black Hound. And that's all before he gets back to the ship, where he runs a sword through the Commander and severely disfigures the Prince and Captain of the ship!

No wonder they call him 'the Barbarian'!
