Here are two issues of CONAN THE BARBARIAN from the second half of 1972, just a year after artist Barry-Windsor Smith and writer Roy Thomas together birthed the 'Conan Sensation' of the early 70s . . . and in those 2 years, CONAN became one of Marvel's biggest stars!

Inside the cover by Gil Kane, issue #17 gives us "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth!", wherein CONAN and Fafnir the Vanir are stranded on the ancient island of Bal-Sagoth in the Vilayet Sea. At first, they are enemies, but they quickly decide to co-operate in order to survive. They rescue a girl, Kyrie, and fight the high priest Gothan in order to restore her as goddess and Queen Aala of Bal-Sagoth.

In #18, continuing from #17, Thomas and Kane offer up "The Thing In The Temple!", which tells of Queen Aala being restored to the throne of Bal-Sagoth, with CONAN and Fafnir slaying a hideous demon and fleeing from Bal-Sagoth as a volcano destroys the island!

These two 52 year-old copies of CONAN THE BARBARIAN are in nice condition - no stress lines, creases or toning - the cover still has its gloss and the pages are near-white with bright colors. There are minute splits and missing pieces on the covers - enough to lower them to the grade of 7.0 FN/VF in our opinion.
