Fine - an exceptional, above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with slight creasing or minor defects. Eye appeal is somewhat reduced because of slight surface wear and possibly a very small defect such as a few very slight cross stress marks on spine. A fine condition comic book appears to have been read a few times and has been handled with moderate care. Compared to a very fine, cover inks are beginning to show a significant reduction in reflectivity but is still a highly collectible and desirable book.

Cover by Gil Kane. "The Shadow in the Tomb" is written by Roy Thomas and drawn by John Buscema and Ernie Chua. As a barbarian, Conan never trusted magic and always preferred a strong sword over a spell in a fight. But there's many a time that the Cimmerian was without a weapon and was tempted to take one that had the stink of enchantment upon it. Our story begins as Conan accompanies a Turanian patrol attempting to quell an uprising of barbarian Hill-Men who hold no love for Turan's King Yildiz and seek to bloody their axes on Turanian flesh.

Overcome in ambush, Conan and the bedraggled soldiers under Captain Malthuz' command retreat to a cave in the side of a hill, hoping for a miracle to able to survive the day. The leader of the Hill-Men Hobar issues a challenge to Malthuz: if he can defeat Hobar's champion, a man-mountain named Toruk, he and his men may leave the area alive. If not, Hobar will call down a slaughter. The challenge sends Conan's memory back to a time in the cold reaches of his homeland between Aesgaard and Vanaheim when he was weaponless and pursued by bloodthirsty Vanir. On the run, the young hero fell into an ancient crypt and there found a sword clutched in a skeletal hand. Once Conan dare draw the weapon, however, he realized the terrible curse placed upon it and wished he'd never disturbed the spirits of the dead!
