Near Mint - Nearly perfect with only minor imperfections allowed. This grade should have no corner or impact creases, stress marks should be almost invisible, and bindery tears must be less than 1/16 inch. A couple of very tiny color flecks, or a combination of the above that keeps the book from being perfect, where the overall eye appeal is less than Mint drops the book into this grade. Only the most subtle binding and/or printing defects allowed. Cover is flat with no surface wear. Cover inks are bright with high reflectivity and minimum of fading. Corners are cut square and sharp with ever so slight blunting permitted. Staples are generally centered, clean with no rust. Cover is well centered and firmly secured to interior pages. Paper is supple and like new. Spine is tight and flat.

Roy Thomas, writer, and Barry Smith, artist, spin the "Web of the Spider-God," another classic tale of the sword-wielding Cimmerian. In the desert east of Ophir, Conan is beset by thieves who ambush him, seeking to take his mount. Falling upon him like jackals they soon find he's a tiger in their midst. But their numbers prove too much even for Conan and his horse is stolen out from under him even as he's left to the desert heat. In his delirium, Conan dreams of a monstrous spider devouring him whole. And when he makes it to the next oasis, he finds from an old man who just lost his daughter that the beast is all too real.

Worshiped as a god in the city of Yezud, the great black spider Omm, the Unspeakable has inspired a cult of followers. It is they who have taken the young girl and Conan and the father soon ride there to attempt rescue and get revenge on the marauders who stranded the barbarian. Forgoing all tact, Conan hurls himself and the worried father into the midst of the madmen and lands in their dungeon to await the hunger of the arachnid horror. Into the milky web, Conan is thrown without benefit of a sword. But the barbarian nonetheless makes sure that Omm has had its last meal of human flesh. Thomas' interpretation of Robert E. Howard's character is flawless and under the pen of Smith, Conan is ferocity incarnate.
