CHEECH WIZARD was an underground comics character created by artist Vaughn Bodé in 1957 when he was only 15 years old! He drew a hat with stars on it with legs sprouting out from beneath the oversized hat and named him after a nearby can of Cheechie Nuts on his kitchen table. He continued drawing strips and multi-page stories through the 1960s while in college, and many were collected and published as an underground comic by Company and Sons in 1972. From 1972 to 1975 the strips also appeared in _National Lampoon._

Here is Issue #1 of Rip Off Press' 4-issue run of THE COMPLETE CHEECH WIZARD, that reprints 16 of his black and white comics, from single panels to the 14-page tale "The Race to the Moon". CHEECH WIZARD stars in them all as his usual self - which Bodé described as "foul-mouthed, often drunk or high on drugs, and constantly on the make."!
