Ah, the 70's...With the restrictions of the Comics Code softening up, Marvel Comics was free to introduce Monsters, demons, Street Savvy heroes and full scale death on a regular basis!! And with books like "Tomb Of Dracula", "Man-Thing", "Howard The Duck" and "Master Of Kung Fu", The readers reaped the rewards!!

The year: 1969. Marvel finally is able to expand there best selling comic line. Two character books like tales to astonish and strange tales split, giving each character their own title. As a double blessing, the comics code has loosened up it's reigns. So stan lee thinks to himself "maybe we can do something besides superheroes..." thus, the second wave of marvel monster books is born! But instead of the giant aliens/radioactive beasts prevalent in the late 50's, marvel goes back to the classic gothic monsters that every 14 year old boy has been watching at the matinee for years. Vampires, ghosts, mummies and the rest get to go four color! A new anthology horror book debuts: chamber of darkness! Complete with a classic crypt-keeper style host "headstone p. Gravely" introducing each tale with ec styled tongue in cheek flair, bringing to the forefront the creme de la creme of the second wave of marvel illustrators, including john buscema, barry smith, bernie wrightson and more!
