Marvel Comics' publication of the title CAPTAIN MARVEL hit quite a few roadblocks on the way to the printers, after DC Comics acquired the rights to the original Fawcett character Capt. Marvel and sued to prevent him from appearing in their rival's comics. But MARVEL prevailed with a totally different take on the character, and the stage was cleared for his 58-issue run at 'The House of Ideas'! Here is one of the last issues before the title went on a two-year hiatus!

Roy Thomas scripted, and Gil Kane and John Buscema presented a reincarnation of CAPT. MARVEL in the previous issue and set up the longest-lasting iteration of the character out of nearly half a dozen different identities! Then here in #18, in "Vengeance Is Mine!", while battling the MANDROID, CAROL DANVERS is shot with a laser which causes her to fall unconscious beneath the damaged Kree Psyche-Magnitron. CAPTAIN MARVEL rescues her (but not before the Magnitron alters her genetically, allowing for her to gain the powers she will later use as MS. MARVEL, and ultimately, the new CAPTAIN MARVEL!).

This is a nice solid copy of a 52-year old title, with strong bindings, supple pages, glossy covers and no apparent defects or blemishes. There are no ragged edges, just mildly worn corners - and the general wear from being read and enjoyed!. We're grading it at a 6.0 FN , and we're going to make this affordable for you at just $28 - making it the least expensive CAPTAIN MARVEL #18 on HipComic!
