Item Description
Jack Kirby was a one-man comic-book machine here in CAPTAIN AMERICA #198 through #200! He provided the story, the pencils and even the editing! And he did them all with his customary energy and excitement! Here are the last three parts of Kirby's big 'MADBOMB' saga that spanned 8 issues and told of the plot to detonate 'Big Daddy' on the very day of the US Bicentennial! The backstory in these three issues is CAPTAIN AMERICA & THE FALCON's pursuit of a vengeful William Taurey, who was dedicated to overthrowing the U.S. Government. He had access to MADBOMB technology which could send the entire country into rioting frenzies. Taurey planned to detonate his _Big Daddy_ MADBOMB during the American Bi-Centennial and later emerge from the chaos. Taurey had an ancestor that served in the English Army, opposing United States Colonial troops in the Revolutionary war. This ancestor was slain by the Colonial STEVE ROGERS, and as a matter of honor, William Taurey vowed to avenge him by killing the modern day STEVE ROGERS.
In CAPTAIN AMERICA #198, Kirby dishes up "Captain America's Love Story!" , wherein CAP and the FALCON attempt to find the creator of the MADBOMB, but CAP begins to have feelings for the daughter, Carol, who has a serious illness.
And as we see in #197's "The Man Who Sold the United States!", Professor Mason Harding, creator of the MADBOMB, escapes from his captors to help CAP and the FALCON. But William Taurey orders the "Big Daddy" MADBOMB activated!
In #200, a perfect tie-in the the setting of the 200th birthday of the USA, Kirby serves up a satisfying ending to the MADBOMB saga, with CAPTAIN AMERICA taking out William Taurey at Taurey Estate, and the FALCON managing to destroy the "Big Daddy" MADBOMB in Philadelphia before in can be detonated. It all happens in "Dawn's Early Light!".
These copies of CAPTAIN AMERICA issues #198 to #200 are in nice shape for being 47 years old! There are no ragged edges, the bindings are strong, there is only minimal toning and the covers still have a gloss. All these factors contribute to a conservative combined grade of 8.0 VF for each, for which Overstreet suggests an aggregate price (2 x $11 + $14) of $36. Our price for the trio? - just $29 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping of only $3!
