Jack Kirby was a one-man comic-book machine here in CAPTAIN AMERICA #196 and #197! He provided the story, the pencils and even the editing! And he did them all with his customary energy and excitement!

In CAPTAIN AMERICA #196, Kirby dishes up "Kill-Derby!" , wherein beautiful villainess Cheer Chadwick forces Captain America and the Falcon take part in the corrupt cabal called ELITE's futuristic and deadly roller-derby.

And as we see in #197's "The Rocks Are Burning!", Captain America and the Falcon are victorious in the ELITE's "kill-derby" but refuse to accept the winners' pot of gold. Incensed, the crowd attack the heroes, but General Fist's forces assault the base and defeat the Royalist Forces. Cheer Chadwick and her "Poppa" are able to escape and still plan on detonating the "Big Daddy" Madbomb on the day of the bicentennial.

These copies of CAPTAIN AMERICA issues #196 & #197 are in nice shape for being 46 years old! There are no ragged edges, the binding is strong, there is only minimal toning and the covers still have a bit of gloss. All these factors contribute to a conservative combined grade of 8.0 VF for each, for which Overstreet suggests an aggregate price of $74.
