Here's a key issue in any CAPTAIN AMERICA collection -- #117 from the Fall of 1969 that introduced Cap's future sidekick and a bona-fide hero in his own right = THE FALCON!

Introduced by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan in this issue, he was the first African-American superhero in mainstream comic books, and got quite a bit of main-stream media coverage for a comic book character of that time.

In "The Coming of . . the Falcon!", the Red Skull had previously switched bodies with Captain America, and uses the Cosmic Cube to send Cap to the tropical Caribbean island home of the six EXILES. There Cap encounters a falconer from Harlem who had been hired by the Exiles but who is now attempting to help the island natives kick the Exiles from their home. Cap joins forces with the falconer who, with Cap's urging, dons a costume and takes the name THE FALCON.

THE FALCON, as played by Anthony Mackie, is set to star in the upcoming DISNEY+ series, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier"

This is a good-looking copy, with a solid binding, supple pages, cover gloss and good interior colors. The only noticeable detractor is a bent corner on the front cover - nothing that detracts from the great story and Gene Colan's robust and attractive art! We'll very conservatively call it a 8.0 VF . . which Overstreet says commands a price of $194! . . . but we're pricing it at $165 . . with FREE shipping!
