Jim Steranko was a one-man comic-book studio! Here on CAPTAIN AMERICA #110 he provided the pencils and inks and colors for the cover and redesigned the 'Captain America' logo! Between the covers he plotted the story and illustrated it! It's surprising Stan Lee didn't just have Steranko and Kirby take over the company!

Here in CAPTAIN AMERICA #110, Steranko dishes up "No Longer Alone!" in this 10th issue following CAP receiving his own series. In it, CAP runs across the HULK on a rampage in NYC, but the HULK escapes and CAP vows that RICK JONES must never put himself in danger until the monster can be tamed. Back at Avengers Mansion, RICK finds BUCKY BARNES' old uniform, and rejects CAP's protests against wearing it. After putting him off for years, CAP finally begrudgingly accepts RICK officially as his new partner. Almost immediately they uncover a plot by HYDRA to contaminate the city's water supply. After a series of battles the HYDRA goons are driven off, and CAP tells RICK he survived his "baptism of fire" like a man.

The double-page centerspread was a thing of wonder when the issue was new! Steranko's artwork was hailed as 'cinematic' and 'breakthrough' at the time.

This copy of the key CAPTAIN AMERICA issue #110 is in nice shape for being 52 years old! There are no ragged edges, the binding is strong, there is only minimal toning and the cover has gloss . . but there is a small and slight warp at the lower right corner that minimally affects all pages. All these factors contribute to a conservative grading of 6.0 FN, for which Overstreet suggests a price of $35 due to the significant event of Rick Jones becoming BUCKY for the next half-dozen issues.
