THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD began publication in August-September of 1955. Originally an anthology series featuring adventure tales from past ages with characters such as the Silent Knight, the Viking Prince, the Golden Gladiator, and Robin Hood, the title eventually, with issue #59, evolved into a team-up book, with BATMAN sharing the spotlight feature throughout most of its run.

Here in issue #93 from early in 1971, BATMAN faces chilling supernatural threats on a remote island.

In "Red Water Crimson Death", a tale narrated by CAIN from HOUSE OF MYSTERY, BATMAN is urged by COMMISSIONER GORDON to take a 'vacation' to stave off impending burn out, and goes on an ocean cruise as BRUCE WAYNE. Mid-cruise he saves a boy named SEAN who falls overboard. Returning him to his home on Arin Island, BRUCE finds that mystical forces are working to have him solve a mystery on the island - as BATMAN.

Hearing the local legends of a 'Red Sea' killing island inhabitants, a soon finding SEAN in jeopardy, the great detective soon learns that a local businessman is behind the seemingly supernatural events . . and is able to restore peace to the island.

Another suspenseful tale from Denny O'Neill, and Neal Adams provides another pencilling/inking job that is beyond wonderful!

This is a great-looking copy of BRAVE AND THE BOLD #93! The binding is strong, the pages are supple and bright, and there are no real flaws that we can see! We conservatively grade this handsome copy an 8.0 VF.  The Overstreet Price Guide values this issue in this condition at $69.  But we're willing to part with it for just $45 , with our always-L•O•W shipping of just $2!
