THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD began publication in August-September of 1955.  Originally an adventure series featuring several non-related vignettes per issue, the title eventually evolved into a team-up book, with BATMAN sharing the spotlight feature throughout most of its run.

Here in issue #80 from October of 1968, inside the dynamic cover by Neal Adams, is the story "And HELLGRAMMITE is His Name!" written by Bob Haney and illustrated by the great Neal Adams.  BATMAN is paired with the CREEPER (very early in his DC career - within months of getting his own title), a television newscaster neamed JACK RYDER who reverts to an acrobatic, near-maniacal creature, and who eventually became an ally of BATMAN and a JUSTICE LEAGUE member!

RYDER approaches BATMAN with information that the criminal HELLGRAMMITE is in Gotham City. This revelation leads to BATMAN and the CREEPER working together to stop the mammoth insectoid crook from his bid to eliminate prominent gang members.
Unfortunately, CREEPER is a wanted criminal at this time and it proves troublesome when the Gotham City Police Department starts hunting down the CREEPER.

Battling the HELLGRAMMITE throughout Gotham, the duo locate him in the Gotham subway system where they down him with a combination of a fire extinguisher and the electrified third rail. After the HELLGRAMMITE's defeat, the CREEPER makes his escape to avoid his own arrest at the hands of the Gotham PD.

This 57-year-old copy of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #81 is in 7.0 FN/VF condition - it 's been handled with care over its life span. The spine is strong, there are no tears, rough edges or pieces missing . .  and nothing mars the great Adams art inside.
