It's 'THE WORLD'S GREATEST COMIC MAGAZINE'!!! - - and issue #52 introduces one of THE WORLD"S GREATEST SUPERHEROES : King T'Challa of Wakanda! It's the very first appearance of The BLACK PANTHER, courtesy of the incredible imagination of Jack Kirby!

This issue finds the Fantastic Four flying to the African nation of Wakanda in a special high-tech craft gifted to them by that nation. Intrigued by the technological marvel given to them, Mister Fantastic agrees to make the journey, and as the team flies across the Atlantic, T'Challa, leader of Wakanda, rejoices with his people that the FF will visit them. The people raise the Panther Idol high before T'Challa enters the sacred temple and dons his ceremonial garb, emerging as The Black Panther!

When the Fantastic Four arrive in Wakanda, they are surprised to find themselves in a massive mechanical forest. Upon disembarking the ship they are suddenly attacked by the Black Panther! Caught off guard the group splits up and faces off against various traps, Wakandan guards, and the Black Panther himself. By themselves, each member of the Fantastic Four are no match for the Black Panther, but when they regroup they easily outnumber and overpower the Panther who ceases his hostilities. Unmasking, T'Challa reveals that he was merely testing the Fantastic Four's fabled abilities and has invited them to his land to for a grave task, which is revealed in issue #53!

The INHUMANS are also present in a tangential subplot!

The value of this issue has recently skyrocketed with the huge success of the "Black Panther' film from Disney, and the untimely passing of T'Challa's portrayer, Chadwick Boseman. But this was always a great FANTASTIC FOUR issue, long before those events, and Overstreet has marked its yearly increase in value for a lengthy time. This is a better copy than most on the marketplace, but it has normal wear, a date stamp on the cover, a tiny bit of writing on the splash page as well as a small tear to the edge of that page, and a loose page from after the story ends. There is normal 54-year-old toning, but no foxing, and the color is good throughout. We judged this very carefully and conservatively by Overstreet's guidelines and are confident in calling it a 4.5 VG+. You might even call it something higher!

We think a price of $500 - with FREE SHIPPING - is very appropriate here. Many lesser-quality copies in the marketplace are asking much higher prices. We think you'll be happy - and proud - to own this key Marvel comic that will only increase in value as the Black Panther legend continues!
