By 1983, BATMAN's dealings with the Justice League of America had become increasingly strained. When his employee Lucius Fox was detained in the country of Markovia, BATMAN urged the JLA to enter the conflict and restore peace, When they refused to help him, he QUIT the JLA, and flew to Markovia with BLACK LIGHTNING.

It was there that he formed the team of super-powered young people that became known as THE OUTSIDERS. Soon GEO-FORCE, HALO, METAMORPHO, and KATANA were fighting alongside BATMAN and BLACK LIGHTNING and forming a force to be reckoned with!

In this first tale of their adventures together, nearly all of them are captured by the ruthless rebels that are overthrowing the monarchy of Markovia.

BATMAN is soon also captured by the soldiers, leaving only HALO alone in the wilderness to figure out what to do. Coming to, BATMAN finds himself in a dungeon with the other heroes and Lucius, and soon finds out that he is a prisoner of the rebels' leader, BARON BEDLAM.

Mike W. Barr tells a great 'origin story' and also contributes an editorial in place of the letters column explaining the publication origins of the Outsiders and how they came to fill the void when THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD was canceled. And Jim Aparo's appealing art has never been better!

This is a terrific-looking 40-year old comic - the binding is strong, the colors are bright, the covers still have their gloss . . just in top-notch condition - no stress lines, dings, tears, creases or pieces missing!. There is a tiny, almost undetectable, raised blemish of some sort near the middle of the front cover.
