BATMAN's first published appearance was in DC's DETECTIVE COMICS #27 in May of 1939. Here, 29 years later - 348 months of continual appearances - is BATMAN #200, a milestone that only a few comic book titles had achieved by that time!

Beyond the cover, which features Neal Adams' very first published renditions of BATMAN and ROBIN, superimposed over covers of standout BATMAN issues of the previous 28 years, you get the 21-page story, "The Man Who Radiated Fear!", wherein The SCARECROW infects BATMAN and ROBIN with his newest FEAR poison and turns them into meek and frightened versions of their former selves!

But ALFRED helps them battle back by reminding them of their vow against crime (because of the murders of their parents), and the DYNAMIC DUO is soon besting The JOKER, The PENGUIN, and KILLER MOTH, picking up clues along the way that allow them to eventually turn the tables on The SCARECROW and bring him to justice!

While the artwork is credited to Bob Kane, as per his contract with DC at the time, comic scholars have determined that the issue was actually drawn by Chic Stone, with inks by Joe Giella.

And a surprise bonus is the inclusion of the very first page of BATMAN's first appearance in 1939, which actually WAS drawn by Bob Kane.
