Very Good - The average used comic book. A comic in this grade shows wear, can have a reading or center crease and/or a rolled spine, but has not accumulated enough total defects to reduce eye appeal to the point that it is not a desirable copy. Discoloration, fading and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4 inch triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge. A missing square piece, 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch, is also acceptable. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Cover and interior pages can have one or two minor tears and folds and the centerfold may be loose or detached. One staple can be loose, but the cover is not completely detached. Common bindery and printing defects do not affect grade. Pages and inside covers may be brown but not brittle. Tape should never be used for comic book repair, however may Very Good condition comics have minor tape repair.
Avengers: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES (2004) #4
Written by Joe Casey with art by Scott Kolins. The death of Bucky Barnes, Captain America's plucky partner throughout the bloody days of World War II, had such a profound effect on the Star-Spangled Avenger that it haunts his waking world and his dreams. The monster responsible for Bucky's untimely demise is Baron Zemo, Hitler's top scientist, who has somehow returned in the modern age and formed a super-villain team known as the Masters of Evil. Bucky was killed when Zemo detonated an experimental airplane drone the young hero was trying to prevent the Nazis from stealing. Zemo's re-appearance has sparked murderous feelings in Cap, who struggles to retain his moral center amid an overwhelming wave of longing for revenge. But chasing after Zemo must wait as the Avengers are asked to investigate a U.F.O. that has landed in America's heartland.
As the heroes speed to the scene along with a contingent of U.S. paratroopers, Cap is interviewed for Stars and Stripes magazine, the official periodical of the U.S. military. His inspirational words about duty and honor and American values provide the public and the Pentagon all they need to grant the Avengers their much-sought after Priority One status. At the sight of the U.F.O. landing, the Avengers have their first encounter with the madman who later becomes their greatest nemesis: Kang the Conqueror. With the ability to travel through time and with an arsenal of futuristic weapons and defenses at his command, Kang is a formidable foe. But the bravery of young Rick Jones, combined with the mechanical might of Iron Man and Thor's mystic hammer, brings Kang to his knees, forcing to abandon his plans to conquer the modern age. The Avengers are hailed as heroes with a ticker-tape parade through New York City. But deep within Cap's heart, the desire for revenge against Zemo wells up again.
