We grade this as NM+ (9.6) as it has some, but not all, the characteristics of the guidelines described in the most current Overstreet Guide to Grading Comics. But it’s your money, so take a close look at the actual images. This item can be described as nearly perfect with only minor visibles that keep it in, “no man’s land” between NM/MT and NM. Item looks, “as if it was just purchased and read once or twice.” There may be subtle bindery or printing defects. No bindery tears. The surface is flat with no surface wear. Inks are bright with high reflectivity and minimal fading. Cover is generally well centered and firmly secured to interior pages. A corner may be minutely blunted, but still almost cut square and sharp. There may be almost imperceptible indentations but there are no creases, bends or color breaks. There may be small, inconspicuous, lightly penciled, stamped, or inked arrival dates in unobtrusive locations. No soiling, staining or other discoloration. The spine is tight and flat with no spine roll or splits. The staples are original, generally centered, with only the slightest discoloration. No staple tears, stress lines or rust migration. Paper is off-white, supple, and fresh. No hint of acidity in the odor of the newsprint. No interior autographs or owner signatures. Centerfold is firmly secured. If there are any interior tears, they are slight.

Following guidelines from the most current Overstreet Guide to Grading Comics, we grade this as VG/FN (5.0). This item is an average to above average but well-used item. Moderate wear shows and eye appeal is somewhat reduced because of accumulation of defects. Item is still desirable and looks like it has been handled with some care. An accumulation of bindery or printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate wear is apparent with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have major to extreme reduction in reflectivity. Blunted or abraded corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or minor spotting (foxing). Penciled, stamped, or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2” may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. A slight accumulation of minor staple tears, and an accumulation of minor stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is brown to tan with no signs of brittleness. May have the faintest trace of an acidic odor. Centerfold may be loose but not detached. Minor interior tears may also be present.
