The ATARI FORCE comics at DC had an odd genesis. 

The first ATARI FORCE incarnation was a series of minicomics created in 1982 to be packed in with certain Atari 2600 video game sets from fellow Warner Communications subsidiary Atari, Inc. These didn't get a lot of buzz, but DC was convinced what they had created could find a bigger and more enthusiastic response if they became regularly-issued, standard-size comics.

So in 1984 writer Gerry Conway changed the make-up of the original team, added new alien characters to the team, and most-brilliantly, hired exquisite artist José Luis Garcia-Lopez to design the new characters and be the main penciller of the spectacular-looking new ATARI FORCE!

Here are the first two issues of the 20-issue run of the new full-sized ATARI FORCE, introducing the new cast of •Christopher "Tempest" Champion, son of Martin Champion, the leader of the first ATARI FORCE team ; •Erin "Dart" Bia O'Rourke-Singh, daughter of Mohandas Singh and Li-San O'Rourke of the original team; •Hukka; •Morphea, an insectoid empath; •Babe, an alien toddler of immense size and strength; and •Pakrat, a humanoid rodent thief. 

Their mission was to seek out and apprehend the evil Dark Destroyer, a megalomaniac threat to the entire universe.

Issue #1 sets the stage, with several action-packed battle scenes, for adventures to come. And issue #2 exposes the Dark destroyer's plot to eliminate the ATARI FORCE.  That's team member Dart in a fight to the death with Dark Destroyer's alien assassin, Warbeast on the cover of #2.

These are near-pristine copies of two 40-year old comics - no flaws, blemishes or detractions from an 8.0 VF/Nm grade.  As such, Overstreet values the pair at $7 . . but we'll beat that with our $5.50 price tag, and maybe the lowest shipping cost on HipComic!

It's actually worth more than $7 just for the privilege of enjoying Garcia-Lopez's gorgeous artwork!!
