ARCHIE's PALS n GALS #1 hit the newsstands in 1952, the 5th title to feature ARCHIE ANDREWS and his Riverdale pals and adversaries from the powerhouse Archie Comic Publications, founded in 1939. Named MLJ Publications at the outset, and a published of superhero comics, they really hit their stride and changed their name in 1941 when they started printing the adventures of a close-knit teen crowd, hoping to capture the interest of of young people and duplicate the success of Mickey Rooney's "Andy Hardy" films!

Here is the first of over 224 issues of ARCHIE'S PALS n GALS that ran until 1991. You get 19 different stories of varying length, from 2 pgs to 7, activity and game pages, text stories and 'public Announcements' from the characters! Everybody's here: Veronica; Betty; Archie; Jughead; Reggie; Miss Grundy; Principal Weatherbee; Veronica's Dad and even Mayor Gibbons!

This is a nice solid copy of this 69-year-old comic, with a nice strong still-square binding, minimal toning, strong colors, and no tears, creases or pieces missing. There is a bit of dampness damage at the bottom of the front cover, and a water stain at the corresponding spot on the back cover, with a small date stamp near the spine. But the interior pages are unaffected and in top shape. We'll conservatively grade this a 5.0 VG/FN . . in which condition Overstreet gives this title a value of $310. We'll put a reasonable price tag of $210 on it . . . and throw in FREE shipping!
