ANIMAL COMICS was an 'upscale' classy title in the DELL publishing stable -- the kind of comic apt to be purchased by well-off parents to read to their pampered children. (that's solely MY sense of the audience for this well-produced series!)Much more money was spent on artists in producingANIMAL COMICS in this time period than the standard 'Funny Animal' anthology comics.

Chief among the strong crew of artists on ANIMAL COMICS was the unparalleled Walt Kelly, who introduced his famous POGO cast in an early issue of ANIMAL.He is represented here in #18 by a POGO tale, plus both the front and back covers!

Also herein is H.R.McBride's well-known 'UNCLE WIGGILY' in a 10-page story where the kindly elderly rabbit and NURSE JANE FUZZY-WUZZY go treasure hunting! You also get Mo Gollub's fine artwork on the tale of two young bears in "Cubs'll Be Cubs".

This is a 79-year-old copy that is in wonderfully nice shape for its age. The binding is strong, the covers are glossy, and there is minimal toning of its interior pages.There is a tiny piece missing from the bottom right corner of the front cover, and a few stress lines at the spine.

There is an almost imperceptible date stamp on the front cover within the blue cloud area to the right of UNCLE WIGGILY.

It earns a 6.0 FN from us, which translates to an Overstreet value of $27, which further translates to a mere $18 price tag for you! Throw in our amazingly L•O•W shipping cost, and you'll want to make this copy yours!
