Legendary comic book artist Gil Kane had long made a name for himself on multiple titles at DC Comics from the mid-50s through the end of the 1960s . . and then changed stomping grounds and became a mainstay at Marvel Comics through the end of his career. Here is his first issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in a brilliant 22-issue run!

In "Doc Ock Lives!", written by Stan Lee, with Kane's pencils inked by John Romita, SPIDER-MAN finds it hard to believe that his foe, DOCTOR OCTOPUS, is really dead. Out on the streets, as Peter Parker, he purchases a newspaper and reads how authorities were unable to find any trace of DOC OCK. Peter worries that Octavius might have survived after all. As hegoes his own way, he tosses out the newspaper, unaware that his foe is hiding in the nearby alley. DOC OCK recovers the discarded newspaper and is amused to learn that everyone thinks that he is dead and begins planning his next attack, vowing to get final revenge against SPIDER-MAN.

Beautifully dynamic action by Gil Kane, with Romita's handsome inking!

This is a really nice good-looking and solid copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #89, with a good binding, supple pages and bright color. The pages have very little toning for a 51-year-old comic, and no foxing. Overstreet prices this issue in a grade of 8.0 VF at $58 . . . but we think $47 is a bit more reasonable! (And our mere $2 shipping fee is another good reason to take this Spidey home!)
