STEVE DITKO, the creator and main artist for SPIDER-MAN comics since 1962, handles pencils, inks and plotting here for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #17, as the Wall-Crawler takes on the the GREEN GOBLIN . . with a little help from the HUMAN TORCH!!

In the 22-page story, "The Return of the Green Goblin!", SPIDER-MAN attends a fan club meeting organized by Flash Thompson, but the GREEN GOBLIN crashes the meeting. Fortunately the HUMAN TORCH just happens to be in attendance to help SPIDER-MAN. During the battle, Peter finds out that Aunt May is in the hospital and he leaves, causing everyone to believe that SPIDER-MAN is a coward.

The GREEN GOBLIN trades in his Flying Broomstick in this story for his much more familiar Goblin Glider - seen here for the first time!

This is a nicely solid and decent copy of SPIDER-MAN #17, but there is a dinged corner, a small piece missing at upper left of the front cover, ball-point pen writing on the first page, and a date stamp on the cover. Those are the main detractors, but the binding is strong, a bit of cover gloss is present, and the pages have less-than-normal toning. Overstreet prices this 58-year old issue in a grade of 5.0 VG/FN at $213 (largely due to only the 2nd appearance of GREEN GOBLIN) . . . but we think $198 is much more reasonable!
