Just a few months after possibly the most popular comic book issue of 1973 sent shockwaves through Marvel Fandom with the death of Gwen Stacy, and two months after the death of the GREEN GOBLIN, comes AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #123 with a special guest appearance by MAN-WOLF!

Here in "The Mark of the Man-Wolf!", Peter Parker deals with the fallout from the deaths of Gwen Stacy and Norman Osborn, and at the same time is enraged by the Daily Bugle editorials declaring him a villain and a threat to the public - editorials written by his boss J. Jonah Jameson.

Fed up with the misleading reporting, he storms to the offices of the Bugle to confront Jameson being attacked by a werewolf! It is revealed that it is actually Jameson's son John, who, on an NASA mission to the moon acquired a strange red gem, had it made into a necklace, and wears it everywhere . . . but when the moon is full, the gem changes him into a MAN-WOLF and he loses all control!

This the first appearance of MAN-WOLF, who went on to have a rich Marvel history -- marrying SHE-HULK among other career highlights!!
