Marvel Studios is about to premiere a 'MORBIUS' feature film, and here's the very issue from mid-1971 in which the Living Vampire made his diabolical debut!

Writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane present "A Monster Called MORBIUS!", which starts off with Peter Parker agonizing over his experiment-gone-wrong that gave him SIX ARMS! He calls off a date with Gwen Stacy and any further contact, and worries how he will present himself to Aunt May . . or ANYWHERE!

Meanwhile, in a ship at sea, the crew is in turmoil after finding their Captain dead, and they blame the mysterious passenger in the hold. The angry crew attacks the man . . but he escapes, and later murders them all in the black of the night. He is appalled by his 'thirst' for blood and jumps overboard hoping to end it all . . but washes up on a beach right near the house where Peter Parker is hiding out and attempting to reverse the experiment that gave him 6 arms!

Naturally, Morbius and Spider-Man face off, with Peter avoiding being bitten, but succumbing to Morbius' repeated attacks . . when he suddenly finds himself between Morbius and The Lizard!

This was the last Amazing Spider-Man with a 15¢ price tag -- #102 was a 25¢ special, and thereafter it became a 20¢ comic!

This is a beautifully solid and tight copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #101, with a strong binding, supple pages and bright color. There is no toning in the pages of this 50-year-old comic. There is very minor edge wear at the bottom of the front cover and a nearly imperceptible subscription fold that can only be detected on the back cover. We conservatively grade this an 8.5 VF+, which Overstreet values at at $650! . . . but we think $580 is much more reasonable, and gives you this issue at about 1/3rd the price of the only other #101s of comparable condition on HipComic!
