Legendary comic book artist Gil Kane had long made a name for himself on multiple titles at DC Comics from the mid-50s through the end of the 1960s . . and then changed stomping grounds and became a mainstay at Marvel Comics through the end of his career. Here is his 11th issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in a brilliant 22-issue run!

In "The Spider or the Man?", written by Stan Lee, with Kane's pencils inked by Frank Giacoia, Spider-Man feels fed-up with being a hero when he doesn't get what he wants and doesn't get any respect out of any of it. So he makes a serum that he predicts will take away his spider powers! After taking the serum, he falls asleep and has a feverish dream that he is fighting five of some of his greatest villains - Vulture, Lizard, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Kingpin! When the rooftop fighting ends and Peter wakes up, he finds out he has grown six arms!

This is a really nice, terrific-looking and solid copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #100, with a strong binding, glossy covers, supple pages and bright color. The pages have very little toning for a 51-year-old comic, and no foxing. Unfortunately there is the most minute little piece missing from the top of the front cover, and there is a barely perceptible old subscription fold down the center of the comic. Overstreet prices this issue in a grade of 7.5 VF- at $70 . . . but we think $63 is a bit more reasonable! (And our mere $2 shipping fee is another good reason to take this Spidey home!)
