Fine - an exceptional, above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with slight creasing or minor defects. Eye appeal is somewhat reduced because of slight surface wear and possibly a very small defect such as a few very slight cross stress marks on spine. A fine condition comic book appears to have been read a few times and has been handled with moderate care. Compared to a very fine, cover inks are beginning to show a significant reduction in reflectivity but is still a highly collectible and desirable book.

Armageddon 2001 continues! "Beyond the Reach of Time" is written by Louise Simonson with art by Bryan Hitch, James Sanders III, Joe Rubinstein, Ray McCarthy, Nick Napolitano, Jerry Acerno and Dick Giordano. Clark Kent's love for Lois Lane is intense, true and everlasting. But even as the happy couple stands on the brink of wedded bliss, the Wave-Rider (an incorporeal time-traveler) is concerned that love could break Superman's heart and lead him to become the Monarch, the super-powered tyrant in Earth's future he was sent to prevent from coming to power. What could possibly push the Man of Steel over the edge? To find out, the Wave-Rider must merge with Superman and read his potential time-line.

In this grim possible future, Lois Lane becomes pregnant soon after her marriage to Superman. But the Kryptonian strength of the infant ends both their lives with his first kick in her womb. In shock and grief, Superman leaves the planet and falls under the influence of Maxima, the otherworldly queen who once sought to make him her mate. Through a manipulation of events and emotions, Maxima begins to win over the heart of the Man of Steel. But Maxima is engaged to the Krenon cyborg De'Cine. And through the schemes of Sazu, Maxima's cruel and clever handmaid, Maxima and Superman wind up in a titanic struggle to save Earth itself from her monstrous suitor. In the end, the Wave-Rider concludes that Superman will not become the Monarch and thus exits this possible time-line. But we are left to wonder: could Superman have two loves of a lifetime?
