ACTION COMICS is the second longest running comic book series of all time, with only DETECTIVE COMICS having been published longer. For the first several years of publication, ACTION COMICS existed as an anthology series, featuring multiple twelve-page stories featuring a variety of characters ranging from CONGO BILL to ZATARA.

Beginning in January of 1987, ACTION COMICS became a SUPERMAN team-up title and maintained this status until the celebrated 50th anniversary landmark 600th issue. From issue #601 to #643 it became a 52-page anthology series again, with issues distributed on a weekly basis and the title was officially changed to ACTION COMICS WEEKLY. 

And that brings us to this issue from the middle of August 1988, with a cover by Mike Mignola representing the 8-pg lead story starring GREEN LANTERN - "Bring Me a Man", by Peter David and Tod Smith. In it, the story of GL's origin is retold of how he was selected as a 'man without fear'. But Hal Jordan decides that's not a healthy way to live life, and has the Ring restore a modicum of fear to his psyche.

You also get tales of THE PHANTOM STRANGER, NIGHTWING by Marv Wolfman, Curt Swan on SUPERMAN, CATWOMAN, and BLACK CANARY.

This is a great-looking copy from 35 years ago - there are no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, the colors are bright . . it's amazingly tight and sturdy, with good cover gloss!
