Condition: items being sold are in the condition shown in the photographs - what you see is what you get. Graphic novels and other items may have stickers, stamps or other markings on the outside or inside covers (ex. “from the collection of,” discontinued from x library, dewey decimal stickers, etc.). Please look carefully at the photos provided and ask for more if you’re concerned with the specific condition of a trade paperback, raw comic, hardcover, poster, etc.

Graded comics are in Hip’s ‘Brand New’ condition – when these arrive, we inspect them, photograph them and put them away until they’re sold. They’re kept in the plastic CGC sleeve. We do not have UltraPro or other additional brands or types of sleeves for these.

Comics grading is not supposed to be subjective. The standards cgc, cbsc, pgx and others use are according to published criteria, and we try to identify any defects through the photographs and/or in the description. Disclaimer: we’re not perfect in doing so, and we are not certified graders and any notation of a grade on a raw comic or other item, with the exception of actual third-party graded items, is only our best estimation. No refunds will be granted for not receiving a 9.8 nm+/nm raw comic – we will not guarantee any raw comic is any grade. All items’ photographs are retained to identify any defects present when the item was shipped.

PAYMENT: Please pay within 24 hours days of an auction or offer ending. Beyond that, please let us know when to expect payment or if another arrangement needs to be made, such as waiting on a paycheck or for other auctions to end. We’ll file claims or cancel sales on items not paid after 72 hours unless you communicate with us.

Shipping:

_Graded Comics:_ Graded comics ship via USPS Priority Mail, UPS or FedEx (our choice) with signature delivery confirmation, tracking and insurance – the only way we can verify if the item arrived at your address. We’re not liable for stolen items once delivered - mail theft happens to us, too. We will work with you to track down misdirected/lost mail, including securing refunds from the shipper (see below). Graded comics may gain Newton rings in transit - we will not grant refunds for these. CGC says this is somewhat expected and it does not diminish the grade.

_Graphic novels:_ All items ship securely - sealed shut from water and mailed in a rigid envelope or Gemini-type mailer. We pack items securely to hedge against the shippers or others throwing them around or putting heavy stuff on top.

_Raw comics:_ Chances are, unless you’re buying a raw comic that’s marked “reader copy,” you care about things like spine tics, reader’s markers, scratches, dent, discoloration, blunt corners, soiling, water damage, etc. We do, too. We will package your raw comic(s) between cardboard and, where necessary, bubble wrap. We’ll try to make these watertight, too and we won’t use excessive tape nor any tape that can’t be cut through by a very shallow utility knife cut. PLEASE open your items carefully, such as using shallow cuts from a boxcutter or utility knife. We strive to make it apparent how best to safely open your items without damaging them in the process, if you're careful.

We reserve the right to adjust shipping prices if Hip doesn’t calculate shipping correctly for international buyers, including by cancelling the sale momentarily to revise it. We’ll strive to do so via invoice. All international shippers, please wait for an invoice before paying. We've only once ever had this problem and we had a really cool-headed customer who saw it fair that we adjusted the price accordingly so that we weren't paying exorbitant shipping out of our own pockets.

We will work with you if there’s a tracking problem with the shipper and ask that you do what’s necessary on your end. Your local USPS will help track items by the GPS with the truck and tracking bar code scanner, something we can’t request on my end, as far as we’ve seen. We cannot issue refunds for lost items unless they are returned to us. If we need to pay to re-accept the item if it's returned to us, such as in a "They just moved but didn't leave a forwarding address" situation, we will deduct the original shipping price and any Hip fees from the refund. If you still wish to have the item re-sent to you, please arrange/pay for the new shipping by sending us a label by Hip messages (Hip messages thus far allows.jpg/.jpeg only – open a PDF label, print screen it, paste it into Microsoft Paint, save it as a .jpeg/.jpg and attach it to an Hip message to us), or by link (ex. PirateShip, ShippoMail, or PayPal shipping labels, etc. For damaged items, do let us know and provide photographic evidence if your item is considerably damaged. We’re not liable for damage caused by the shippers but if an item was insured, we can file a claim. You MUST keep the packaging to do so and all insurance claim decisions are made by USPS, not us. Again - we package our items well so there shouldn't be damaged goods.
