Issue Description
The Silver Surfer has arrived at a planet where he senses violence. He attepts to break up their senseless battle but soon realizes it's a gladiator's arena and people are being entertained by death.
They tell him he would make an excellent fighter and that they will pay him to fight their champion, Algol. He denies them and flies away, but Algol uses his staff to show the people that the Surfer cares about. He transforms a local into Shalla Bal and has her call out for help. The Surfer returns to protect his former love.
He battles with Algol to everyone's amusement. Algol's staff is powered by the black star Beta Persei and has many powers including negative energy. After nearly suffering defeat, the Surfer turns the staff into atoms, dissolving it, thus defeating Algol.
The people tell him that they survive off of this form of entertainment and it supplies them with energy. They offer again for him to be a fighter and he tells them that he is disgusted by the idea of killing for money or entertainment. They all decide to leave in a transporter but Surfer cannot allow them to continue their barbaric ways. He is attacked by the population and the leaders escape him.
